We offer a comprehensive set of services to assist legal teams in more effectively managing electronic discovery process in modern litigation cases which are increasingly international in nature and often contain documents in several languages. We offer both Machine Language translation as well as live translation.
Language identification
To assist review teams and optimize their time and efforts, we can isolate and tag documents that contain foreign language content through our proprietary Language ID technology. We can ID both the single-language documents, but even more importantly, we can identify documents that contain multiple languages. Having a language tag in your review database is essential to optimizing the workflow of the review process, saving time and thereby the cost of the review.
Machine Translation
Machine translation is an ideal choice to reduce costs and hone in on the most important documents quickly. We have the capability to machine translate documents in all major European and Asian languages (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hebrew, Arabic).
While the machine language translation does not produce translations with perfect grammar, it is a great tradeoff when dealing with large sets of documents in a foreign language. For our clients, we machine translate all the documents first, run keyword searches (both in English and in the document’s native language), and enable our clients to focus on an important, smaller subset of the foreign languages that needs to be translated by hand.
The culling of documents through machine translation is essential to greatly reducing the overall cost of translation services and minimizing the impact of the costly hand translation services.
Hand Translation
Through our wide network of partners, we also offer hand translation services in all major languages. We use only court certified translators to achieve a high quality of translations.
Data Mining in Foreign Languages
Our translation capabilities and data mining complement each other to save costs for the client. We can be given a set of search terms in English, and automatically search the database converting each search term to a correct language of each document (or a section of a document in the case of a multi-language document). This on-the-fly search term translation capability saves time since a traditional approach is to repeat each search for each of the target languages which is a tremendous time and cost sink when this is done across a large dataset, with many search terms and multiple languages.
